PALAVRA PÚBLICA, ENTRE O DESVIO E A REOBJETUALIZAÇÃO: UMA TRAMA PARA O LETREIRO LUMINOSO NA ARTE CONTEMPORÂNEA

No início da década de 1980, o projeto Messages to the public levou uma série de palavras de artistas para o primeiro painel Spectacolor instalado na Times Square, em Nova York. A iniciativa, que se estendeu até 1990, abriu caminho para uma poética que tornaria frequente o uso de letreiros luminosos, particularmente a escrita em neon, em trabalhos de artistas como Robert Montgomery, Regina Parra, Jenny Holzer, Carmela Gross, entre tantos outros. Neste artigo, a partir de revisão de fontes primárias e secundárias, e de entrevistas com artistas, busco relacionar três tendências da história da arte do século XX que viabilizaram a ocorrência do letreiro elétrico publicitário na arte contemporânea.Referências
