Resumo

RESUMO: Com sua ação passada em Cabo Verde, o romance O escravoestá vinculado à história da literatura cabo-verdiana, sendo consideradopor alguns críticos como o primeiro romance daquela literatura. Noenfoque proposto, investigamos as conexões entre a escravidão e a raçano tecido do discurso do romance, que possui tramas e redes narrativasenvolvendo conflitos político-históricos e culturais, principalmente peloviés da miscigenação por coerção, no contexto da escravidão colonialem que estão inseridos.

ABSTRACT: Set in Cape Verde, the novel The slave is connected to thehistory of Cape Verdean literature. It is considered by some literary criticsas the first novel in Cape Verde. Thus, the approach proposed in thisarticle is to try to find the connections between slavery and race in thediscourse weaved in this novel, which features narrative plots and netsthat involve political, cultural, and historical conflicts, especially fromthe perspective of racial miscegenation through coercion, in the contextof colonial slavery in which they are inserted.
