O LEITOR DE CARNE E OSSO E OS LEITORES DE PAPEL E TINTA: REPRESENTAÇÕES DE LEITURA E DE LEITORES NO ROMANCE PIEDADE DE JOSÉ DE MESQUITA

Resumo

Ao investigar as práticas de leitura do passado, o pesquisador geralmente se depara com o problema da ausência, ou escassez, de dados exatos, ou de dados fidedignos, como os que se obtém atualmente. Assim, a solução é recorrer a fontes menos ortodoxas, sendo o texto de ficção uma delas. Neste trabalho, seguindo a trilha aberta por pesquisadores que nos antecederam _ Roger Chartier, Ian Watt, Marisa Lajolo e Regina Zilberman _, procedemos ao levantamento das referências explícitas, bem como das alusões subliminares, ao universo da leitura presentes no romance Piedade de José de Mesquita, objetivando levantar hipóteses sobre os aspectos que concorreram para a formação do romance em Mato Grosso.

When investigating the reading practices of the past, not always (almost never) can we count on accurate data or even close to it as currently occurs. Thus, the researcher must resort to less orthodox sources, and the text of fiction is one of them. In this work, following the pathway opened by researchers who have gone before us, such as Ian Watt, Marisa Lajolo and Regina Zilberman, we proceed to the survey of explicit references, and subliminal allusions, to the universe of reading inserted in the novel Piedade by José de Mesquita, aiming to raise hypotheses about the aspects that contributed to the formation of the novel in Mato Grosso.
