Resumo

ABSTRACT: This study presents an analysis of the last novel ofEça de Queirós, A Cidade e As Serras. It attempts to show that some features of Modernism such as irony and structure fragmentation which would be fully explored only in the twentieth century were already present in Eças„ last novel.
