Knowledge of the spatial distribution pattern of a forest can provide information about the ecology of a given species, assist in defining conservation strategies, help with sampling processes and clarify the spatial structure of the species in question. The objective of this research was to carry out a bibliometric survey of scientific works that address the topic of species distribution in tropical forests over the last 11 years (2013-2023). The following keywords were used for the research: ‘species distribution pattern AND tropical forest AND tree’, in the Web of Science database, where search filtering was subsequently applied by years, country and area of knowledge, obtaining a sampling of 202 publications. Among the main results, it was highlighted that the years 2017 and 2022 had the highest number of published works. The area of Ecology was the one that presented the largest number of publications related to the topic.
The magazine “Ecology and forest management” was the one that stood out for the quantity of works published, and the most prolific author on the topic was Costa, F. R. C. A bibliometric review carried out in this article demonstrated that there is a growing interest and diversity of approaches in scientific production on the spatial distribution of species in tropical forests.
