Abstract

This study was accomplished in savanic remainders typologies, with predominance cerrado stricto sensu and cerradão, in the state of Mato Grosso, located among the latitudes 15°10’ and 15°15’ South and longitudes 55°30’ and 55°35’ West. The objective was to characterize morphologically, to know the ethno-botanic importance, and to contribute for the knowledge of the autecology of Zamia brongniartii Weed., Zamiaceae. Randomly were demarcated four rectangular plots, with the size of each portion of 40 × 10 m (400 m2). Each plot was subdivided into four units of 10 × 10 m (100 m2). In each installment was held the sense of adult individuals and natural regeneration, as well as the phenological survey of species in order to identify the best time for determination of the sex of adult plants. The leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds of this species were characterized morfologically. Chemical and physical analyses of the soil of the place of studies were accomplished. It doesn't present stem. Their leaves are pinaceus. The masculine and feminine flowers meet in dense strobile in the superior extremity of the part underground tuberous. The most appropriate time for the definition of the sex of the plants if it extends from August to January. The masculine strobiles reach the maximum of the maturation the month of December and the cones at the end of January. The opening of the cones begins in the month of January, and the dispersion of the seeds happens starting from April, with the pluviometric reduction.
