Characterization of the Watershed of Cuiabá River

Abstract

Thewatershed of Cuiabá river covers a drainage area equal to 22851.10 km², is located entirely in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, in the quadrilateral formed by the geographical coordinates of 14º10' and 15º50' South latitude and 54°38' and 57º00' West longitude. Is of great historical and economic importance to the population of Mato Grosso. The hydrological behavior of a watershed is a function of its morphological characteristics and the characterization of the physical environment of the river water shedis a basic condition for a successful conservation planning and production of water. This study was aimed to carry out a literature review on the aspects regarding the climatic, physical, hydrological, geological, geomorphological, altimetric and edaphic conditions characteristics and about original vegetation of the area of coverage of the watershed.
