A CONCESSÃO E A ADVERSATIVIDADE: EXPRESSÃO, RELAÇÃO E FUNÇÕES NA INTERAÇÃO FALADA

Resumo

This article, adopting the perspective of critical linguistics, investigates  persuasion found in an editorial published by Folha de São Paulo, in 09/19/06, fifteen days before the Brazilian presidential election, titled ‘Desmandos Sem Fim’ (Endless Insubordination), to incriminate PT (Brazilian Labor Party), and examines  Judgment Appraisal (MARTIN, 2000; 2003), supporting arguments through which the cited newspaper tries to convince its readers. In this investigation, this article is supported by the Argumentation Theory, that, according to Lauerbach (2007), can help the discourse analysis concerning appraisal in terms of acceptability or insufficiency of arguments present in discourse. We will then observe that the arguments based on explicit negative Judgments hide weak argumentation, which tries to stand alone through enthymemes, fallacies and reivindications without guarantee.
