A análise citoquímica evidenciou a presença de amido e
lipídeo como substância reserva do grão de pólen de S.
occidentalis. O amido é uma substância de reserva de grande
importância para a manutenção da viabilidade do grão de
pólen, uma vez que ele é convertido em glicose, frutose,
sacarose e pectinas, que aumentam a sua resistência em
ambientes hostis (RODRÍGUEZ-GARCÍA et al., 2003;
PACINI et al., 2006). Já o lipídeo tem como característica
manter os grãos de pólens unidos ao estigma, protegendo
contra a perda de água (PACINI; HESSE, 2005). Segundo
Baker; Baker (1979), as espécies que possuem os grãos de
pólen com lipídeos, geralmente têm como agentes
polinizadores abelhas e moscas.
Ao investigarem a biologia reprodutiva de S. obtusifolia e
S. occidentalis, Teixeira et al. (2016), observaram como
visitantes florais abelhas, vespas, formigas e moscas, sendo as
espécies de abelhas as principais polinizadoras. É possível
que S. occidentalis siga o mesmo padrão de polinizadores destas
espécies, devido a característica citoquímica do seu grão de
pólen, no entanto, trabalhos de biologia floral podem gerar
melhores respostas a respeito desse aspecto da espécie.
5. CONCLUSÕES
O alto índice meiótico para a espécie Senna occidentalis
indica estabilidade meiótica, que também está refletida na alta
viabilidade polínica, permitindo considerar os genótipos
estudados como organismos citologicamente estáveis.
O pólen da espécie apresenta amido e lipídeo como
material de reserva, evidenciando que a mesma possui
estratégias para a manutenção da viabilidade e para a adesão
dos grãos de pólen ao tubo polínico, respectivamente.
Todos os corantes utilizados foram eficientes para
realizar as análises descritas no presente estudo, para espécie
Senna occidentalis e podem ser aplicados em estudos
posteriores.
